COMMUNITY ACUPUNCTURE FOR STUDENTS

community acupuncture for students

run on the 1st & 3rd Tues of each month
at Healthspace Newtown with Stella
30min mini-sessions | $50

Acupuncture is amazing. It’s helped me more than I can say, and the power of continuous care is life-changing. Alas, students are often left in the cold due to finances.

I was a student for many years, and of all the times to have acupuncture, stressed out study times are it! Acupuncture also works best with regular treatments, so affordable acupuncture is important to me.

Before your session, you’ll need to fill out a questionnaire, including what you’d like to focus on in your treatments. Once on the bed, a quick pulse diagnosis takes place, and then needles are placed where suitable. You’ll rest for 30 minutes, and then you’re free to go about your day.

Sound like a dream? Tell your student friends!

FAQs

+ How is this different to a regular acupuncture treatment?

Community acupuncture makes healthcare affordable to students. Details are supplied in your initial intake questionnaire, and then the treatment session itself is a quiet session - not much talking but rather, pulse diagnosis and then right into treatment.

A 'regular' treatment is more thorough and the price point is associated with a higher value as I am able to direct all my attention to you during your private session, and provide treatment modalities beyond acupuncture.

Community acupuncture is still super valuable, but can be more general in treatment, for a shorter period.

+ How does acupuncture help with stress and mood?

Acupuncture may help reduce stress specifically by calming the nervous system and promoting relaxation. Acupuncture itself works by stimulating specific nerve-rich areas on the body, which then triggers biochemical and physiological changes. Recent studies have shown that acupuncture can reduce cortisol – a hormone associated with stress – while also increasing endorphin levels – known as the ‘feel-good’ hormones. It can also help to reduce the physical symptoms of stress, such as headaches, muscle tension, and digestive issues.

It is widely accepted that acupuncture causes the release of endorphins, serotonin, enkephalins, GABA, norepineprhine and dopamine (1). Additionally, acupuncture can help to improve mood and reduce feelings of anxiety.

+ Can acupuncture help with anything else?

I see patients for a myriad of issues: from anxiety and stress, depression and insomnia, to fertility, back pain and colds and flu. This past week alone I've treated sinus issues, IVF cycle treatments, tired mums, digestive issues and more.

I'm here to for you at any stage of health - be it acutre or chronic, illness or prevention.
